Hello Gorgeous! [Photo: Honestly...WTF]
NYFW may be done and dusted but the spotlight on New York remains, as always, bright and shiny. We complete our fashion round up with some thoughts from the gorgeous Erica and Lauren at Honestly…WTF. The two long-distance gal-pals come together with great daily coverage on all things fashion, plus drool-worthy art, home and travel posts, which are equally browse worthy. What sets them apart from other fashion blogs are the super fun step-by-step DIY projects like jewellery making, shoe customisation, hair accessories and more, so you can emulate the runway look at a fraction of the price. Clever ladies. Now that’s what we call style for dollar! They are earning rave reviews around the web-o-sphere for these original and well put together posts.

Oh go on, take a peek
Is turning a profit the only reason to start a business? Not necessarily, says New York newcomer treasure&bond. Backed by department store giant Nordstrom, not only will 100% of the profits go to New York charities that benefit children, the goods on offer are a unique, handpicked stash too. With Anna Wintour as one of the masterminds behind it, you wouldn’t expect anything less than super stylish.

With NYFW drawing to a close, we thought we’d bring you a little something unique. Aside from being one of the world’s centres for mainstream fashion, NY’s eclectic mix of ‘anything goes’ in terms of street style is what makes the city tick. Capturing the heart of New York’s edgier, grittier underground fashion scene, Katya Moorman of Style Defined has a keen eye for off-the-beaten track looks, which she documents on her blog and in international publications like French Vogue, Glamour and various NY galleries. As a stylist, designer, photographer, fashion writer and part-time teacher at the Graduate Communication Design program at Pratt Institute, quirky and experimental are the norm for her. Feast on her bold and provocative pics!

Dear readers, as NYFW continues, we’ve got another treat for you – juicy tidbits from Mimi Jung, contemporary jewellery designer, renowned blogger, and all-around creative consultant at Brook & Lyn.
The blog portion of Brook & Lyn documents everything from Mimi’s daily ‘looks’ to recipes and fashion events. We’re smitten with her ridiculously chic, understated-with-a-quirk style; so it’s not surprising that her striking jewellery line has got our knickers in a twist. Bringing together unusual materials like hand crochet borders, micro fibre roping and semi-precious rough cut stones; the big, chunky, statement necklaces and bracelets get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Beverage anyone?

To kick off our New York September, we’ve asked some fabulous NYC insiders for scoop on the style inspirations behind the ever-evolving and eclectic city. Handpicked for their unique takes on NY style, you’ll get dedicated guest posts from renowned bloggers.
Today we bring you thoughts from Jamie Beck, the vintage-chic glamazon behind photography, fashion and lifestyle blog From Me To You. Multidimensional; with a unique voice and style, not only does Jamie celebrate anything vintage (think Mad Men), she also celebrates the classic feminine form, anything that is classic, traditional and romantic….and she works non-stop. This gal not only looks fantastic but has the goods.
One of our faves has to be Jamie’s moving pictures, see it to believe it. The cheeky, fun montages encompass New York’s essence perfectly. She’s also got a ton of Fashion Week updates coming up, so check in with her for all the latest.

Travel Inspiration from the LUXE Team – New York, New York & NYFW Facebook Competition!
BY The LUXE Editors
Whatta skyline! [Photo: Ed Page, an entry into our NYFW Facebook photo competition. See below for more.]
TGIF dear readers! Time for another spot of travel inspiration from us at LUXE City Guides and a decade on from 9-11, we salute you New York for your grace, dignity, spirit and downright fabulosity.
So New York, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways… Wait, there are too many, especially in September with Fashion Week fun, frippery and um, fashion. At once painfully edgy, surprisingly laid back and traditional with a capital T, depending on the ‘hood’, it’s simply got everything for everyone. Wanna tickle your pickle at old school deli Katz’s? Wanna catch Woody Allen jamming at The Carlyle on his clarinet? Wanna hang out with the seriously A-list at the top of The Standard? Or simply people watch in Nolita and pick up custom-concoted fragrances at Le Labo? It’s all there and more… You can’t get enough of this concrete jungle, and neither can we.
We’re kicking off New York Fashion week with a tribute to the iconic and majestic city. Share your best shots of New York on our Facebook wall for a chance to win a LUXE New York guide! TTFN!
