Dear hearts, long-time readers will already know that LUXE‘s founder and Publishing Editor, Grant Thatcher, is also the Chairman of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Academy panel for the S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. But for the poppets who are new to LUXEtasy.com, Grant has whipped up a quick blog for The Huffington Post to take us through the eating, drinking, and voting process for the W50Best as votes start coming in for the 2012 list, to be announced next April. Monsieur Lamarre, The Cirque Man
Running away to join the circus is only a childhood fancy, right? Not if you’re Daniel Lamarre, former journalist, PR whiz, media mogul and now CEO and President of Cirque du Soleil, and what a circus it is. Since its inception in 1984, more than 100 million people have seen one of the resident or touring Cirque du Soleil shows, and the multiple shows in Las Vegas alone play to 9,000 spectators per night. Since former street artist Guy Laliberté founded the company, it has grown by leaps and bounds to employ 5,000 worldwide, including more than 1,300 artists, from Canada to China. While Mr. Lamarre was in Macau to relaunch the resident show ZAIA, he snuck in some time to do a Q&A, and tells us about travel, business and his plans for growth in China and Asia Pacific.
