Capturing the heart of New York’s edgier, grittier underground fashion scene, Katya Moorman of Style Defined has a keen eye for off-the-beaten track looks, which she documents on her blog and in international publications like French Vogue, Glamour and various NY galleries. As a stylist, designer, photographer, fashion writer and part-time teacher at the Graduate Communication Design program at Pratt Institute, quirky and experimental are the norm for her. So New York, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways… Wait, there are too many, especially in September with Fashion Week fun, frippery and um, fashion. At once painfully edgy, surprisingly laid back and traditional with a capital T, depending on the ‘hood’, it’s simply got everything for everyone. Wanna tickle your pickle at old school deli Katz’s? Wanna catch Woody Allen jamming at The Carlyle on his clarinet? Wanna hang out with the seriously A-list at the top of The Standard? Or simply people watch in Nolita and pick up custom-concoted fragrances at Le Labo? It’s all there and more… You can’t get enough of this concrete jungle, and neither can we.

A graduate of Shanghai’s prestigious DHU-Lasalle International Design College, Helen’s first brand, INSH has been pushing the envelope of the Chinese fashion scene since 2003 with her vibrant, youthful creations.
