Stuffed and fluffed

Darlings, we’ve been swanning round in Turkish delight Rifat Özbek’s lovely ethnic threads for over 20 years, but what do you know, the notoriously shy (and not unhandsome) poppet has taken his trademark contemporary-cultural motifs and stuffed them. Quite literally. After turning his love for bold, exotic patterns into rugs for Christopher Farr, Riffy’s gotten cosy with the lifestyle domain and has worked his magic on his very own line of cushions. All the more reason to lay back and peel a grape, Beulah…

Fabric-tastic

Don't be a slattern, plump for pattern!

Step into Rifat’s hip Nişantaşi showroom, Yastik – ‘pillow’ in Turkish [ed. go figure] and even the least textile-enthused tai-tai will swoon at the sight of Mr. Özbek’s kapok-pumped, colour-packed covers sprucely lined up on minimalist white shelves. Made from vintage and contempo textiles collected throughout his travels, you’ll find anything from Anatolian florals to handwoven Ikat patterns, via Hamptons-friendly pastel stripes that will all go great with your Autoban sofa. Well, darlings, it’s mint tea all round, pop your pants down on your Yastik and get sitting pretty – we thought that would bolster you.
