Oscar Niemeyer rocker, a snip at $21,000, not!

Happy Thanksgiving, dear hearts! While you were busy gobbling mountains of turkey, turducken, marshmallow pies and other strange manifestations Americans are prone to stuffing down their gullet this time of year, we’ve been at it digging up finds from coast to coast to get you in the Black Friday retail mood. While the crowds trample each other at Walmarts, Targets and Macy’s, here are four fab independent stores, in New York, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles, where you’ll avoid the hurly-burly and Christmas shopping is sure to be a joy, not a chore.

The perfect go-anywhere scarf from Faliero Sarti, $616

New York
In New York’s crowded, cutthroat fashion world, Maryam Nassir Zadeh manages to stand out from the pack and is the choice of fashion insiders for her perfectly edited selection of women’s clothing, shoes, jewellery and accessories that are ahead of the curve yet highly wearable. Look for names like Rachel Comey, Dieppa Restrepo and Étoile Isabel Marant.

Check out the LUXE New York guide for more ultra-stylish fashion finds.

Why not design your own? From $85

Chicago
Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a one-off Italian leather handbag of your own design, without having to fork out big bucks for it? Well, at Laudi Vidni, you can! They offer a full custom service where you can choose from hundreds of colours, styles and materials to create the perfect bag, all for a fair price. Why not take two?

Get your hands on the LUXE Chicago guide for more places to get things custom made in the Windy City.

Add a little vintage Flos lighting to your life, $3,800

Miami
We don’t think Gustavo Olivieri really does sales, and his vast collection of gorgeous American, Scandinavian and European mid-century furniture is no bargain to start with, but have a browse and you’ll see why celeb interior designers like Kelly Wearstler and Nake Berkus buy Gustavo’s wares by the truckload. Ask nicely, and Gustavo might get in the Christmas spirit and knock a few dollars off a must-have piece.

The brand new LUXE Miami guide is packed with more mid-century furniture finds, why not have a gander.

iPad chic, $395

Los Angeles
Style-setting Angelenos know there’s much more to fashion than skinny jeans and a tee or checked shirt, and when they’re in need of their chic fix, they head to TenOverSix. With a strong focus on accessories, it’s the place in LA to find Band of Outsiders, Bodkin, Vena Cava and friends. It’s not just for gals either, guys get a look in with shoes, bags, eyewear, plus there is a too-cute line of gifts for tykes too.

See where else stylistas shop in the LUXE Los Angeles guide.

Hi! I follow your blog and I thank you for your mentioning my showrooms and my collection. We do work with the trade/designers….the famous and the infamous. You never know what you will find in my store, I don’t even know….I am always looking for the strange and the unique. Prices are relative…sometimes high and sometimes there are some amazing deals to be found if you look. Always, if you come and talk to me…there is a good chance you will get that Christmas special, LOL. Find me in our new Hamptons location this summer (74 Montauk Hwy, E. Hampton). If ever in Miami, I may give you a private tour of my warehouse :-)

    Gustavo
