New Shanghai Hotels: Naked Stables Private Reserve – Moganshan, China
BY The LUXE Editors Tweet
Sustainability, without forgoing luxury
No, you silly sausage, LUXE isn’t sending you off to a nudist camp. Naked Stables is a new luxury eco-resort and equestrian reserve, and sister to the more rustic Naked Home Village, both of which are set in the hills of Moganshan, two and a half hours drive from Shanghai. It’s your ticket to a weekend getaway from the city excess.

Up in the hills, minus Lauren Conrad et al.
Spread across 60 acres of its own private, secluded valley, and surrounded by bamboo forests, tea plantations and farming villages, life at Naked Stables is about sustainability without sacrificing life’s little luxuries. Opt for a single-room African-inspired Earth Hut, or splash out on a lofty two, three or four bedroom Tree-Top Villa, with floor-to-ceiling windows giving way to unobstructed hillside views, plus a balcony with hot tub, barbecue and dining area. Whichever you choose, all huts and villas come with mod-cons including WiFi, 36-inch satellite TV, CD/DVD, iPod dock, central heating/cooling, round-the-clock room service and on-call butlers.

Kikaboni, that's organic in Swahili
Outside, it’s activity central: choose from horse riding, mountain biking or plain old hiking, before taking a dip in one of the three heated outdoor pools (pack your mink bikini, it can get nippy this time of year). Evenings are reserved for cultural and craft workshops in The Naked Galleries; the Tea Pavilion, Pottery Studio, Bamboo Museum and the Project Museum, while sprogs run wild in the Little Shoots Kids Club. And when tummies grumble, tuck into organic fare at Afro-Asian restaurant, Kikaboni overlooking the reservoir, or chill by the central Pool Bar and Bistro.

Spa-ahhh, that's our idea of getting back to nature
All sounds too hectic for your liking? Why not retreat instead to The Naked Leaf Wellness and Spa Centre, with nine treatment rooms built on stilts hidden amidst the bamboo forest, offering a range of treatments, holistic therapies, yoga, and diet and exercise consultation and regimes. What’s more, they’re running a soft opening promo of ‘buy one night get one night free’ throughout November, with rates starting from RMB2,600 for Earth Huts and RMB5,800 for a 2-bed Tree-Top Villa. Getting back to nature just got easier.
