'Ello sailor
From catwalk to high street, everybody is sporting sailor stripes this season, and Hong Kong, never one to miss a trend, is no exception. Doing it better than most, is concept store Kapok’s curators of cool, who’ve sailed across Victoria Harbour to Kowloon with their new nautically themed store, Sailor. Just in time for junk season, too. Now, where’s Roger, the cabin boy?

No stars, just stripes
Sure it’s in a mall, but the store cultivates a sense of exploration and navigation, and with a name like Sailor, it’s no surprise to see its wood panelled walls dressed with cute and kitsch anchor and rope motifs, oars and lifesavers. Drawing inspiration from Brittany, Sailor celebrates both French and global brands that embody a carefree life on the water. Needless to say, the quintessential nautical-style staple of marinière tees rule the roost here, including those from the iconic brand Saint James.

Brill espadrilles
It’s not all Breton stripes though, and you’ll be able to complete your yachting outfit with deck shoes, IOAN espadrilles, Guy Cotten raincoats should you actually be out in rough seas, and even homemade pastries by La Mère Poulard. Also in stock are suds and fragrances from boutique French cosmetic brands Graine De Pastel and Lost Marc’h – you may be after the sailor look, but you don’t want to smell like one too! Anchors aweigh!
